Illustrates linear & spherical expansion by heating & contraction by cooling. Mild steel bar 110x12.5mm, length x diameter. Mounted on a rod with wooden handle and a brass gauge 150x38mm with a cutout mounted on a separate wooden handle which just admits the bar lengthways and a hole into which the bar passes endways when cold.
