This is the True & Correct Compound Bar, in which 2 metals of unequal co-efficient of expansion are used to show unequal expansion. Consists of 2 strips, brass & steel riveted together from end to end fitted to a wooden handle. On heating, the joined strips bend in a particular direction thereby showing unequal expansion.
